Paragon appears to be a young man of ethnically questionable background. His skin and facial features exhibiting features from numerous ethnic groups. Caucasian, Asian, Hispanic. The android has untidy black hair, brown eye-like photoreceptors, and syntheskin has a very clear complexion. This syntheskin covers his face, giving him a human appearance. Most of his body in his Mark V 'Valiant' Armor however is covered by a metal composite, principally titanium. The surface of this armor is fitted with adaptive camoflauge. This gives him a rudimentary form of concealment when on missions. Outside of his combat missions, he utilizes his more humanoid Mark II shell, often wearing a soccer shirt or a white T-shirt and shorts.
Paragon--as his name suggests--is a very idealistic robot, always trying for the most ideal solution, the most peaceful outcome. Paragon is generally aversive to violence, only resorting to it as the means to save the lives of innocent humans, androids or AI. Nevertheless, he is extremely protective of the innocent and defenseless, and will fight to protect them unquestioningly, literally throwing himself into danger if it means protecting someone. Otherwise he is in many ways the embodiment of a young ten year old boy, enjoying things other children his physical age do. He is a particular devotee of soccer, ice cream, and Saturday morning cartoons, much to the irritation of the more mature combat units in UNARC. Paragon is both honest and curious, both traits which can get him into trouble at times.
Harmony Incorporated prides itself on its numerous high-quality products. From combat units serving in the Armored Robotics Comission to its Urban Pacification Androids, teleportation units to next-gen space parts and medical supplies, Harmony sees itself as the cutting edge in tomorrow’s technology.
So when I tell you they pulled Paragon out of a bin, you’ll know he’s special.
Four years ago, a team of garbage collectors in the lawless slums of Van Buren outside Neo York City found a severely damaged android in a dumpster next to a low skyscraper. With the neighborhood housing little more than low-income tenant housing and a local pawn shop, the discovery of something as valuable as an android, even in the damaged state it was in, was an astounding find. The garbage collectors, looking to get a quick buck, took the robot to the Harmony building at Locke Square, where--after nearly being driven off the premises by a team of Harmony Pacifiers--the robot was displayed before several members of the company’s board. They had just decided to throw the men out of the building when board member and son of company founder Doctor James Wright entered the room. Immediately noticing the robot, he offered $5,000 dollars to each of them for their find, before ordering the unit be transported to his personal workshop.
The next two hours were spent by the Doctor alone in his worshop, carefully prying the unit apart. The robot was built from a variety of older parts, most custom made, and some almost thirty years old. The chassis, despite its durable laminated exterior, was showing signs of rusting and the seams had been fused together with age and detritus. But that didn't matter to the Doctor. He was fascinated by this older model. What free time he had away from his company and his social responsibilities were spent tinkering on the unit. Repairing its personality and memories, and building a modern replica to house the AI.
It was a month later that Doctor James Wright had finished his work. Beside the broken body of the android found in an alleyway lay a replica on an examination table. Perfectly emulating the older model's purpose and capabilities using modern technology. With a firm yet nervous hand, Doctor Wright activated the unit. The andoid's photoreceptors came online. Blinked, then sat up before turning to his finder and asked if everyone was safe. This moment, combined with the android's innocent and just personality inspired the doctor to give his creation the name ‘Paragon’.
After Paragon's repairs, he joined UNARC (United Nations Armored Robotics Commission) program. His refusal to use lethal measures against human combatants suited his new commanders, who often saw their android minions as more expendable than their own soldiers. He was transferred to urban pacification, where he served with great success, particularly against 'Class 4 and 5' criminals, those with unusual or dangerous powers. Currently stationed at ARC Central Tower in Neo York City, Paragon operates alongside his adoptive family in Team Elite, a team of elite androids responsible for peacekeeping around the globe.
Paragon holds the distinction of being the only intelligent ARC android provided by Harmony not originally built or designed by Doctor James Wright. While the entirety of his chassis and most of his inner working parts have been provided by the now vanished Doctor Wright, Paragon's AI is entirely unique, not configuring to any known AI system, and 'growing' in a way no other AI has been able to match.
Adaptive Intelligence: Artificial Intelligence is the keystone to the modern android. Without a capable AI, an android is useless. Paragon's own AI is one of the oldest seen, but also among the most evolved, constantly growing and reshaping itself.
Despite his childlike demeanor, Paragon is a being of significant intelligence and is capable of adapting quickly to unusual situations. From puzzles and mathematical problems to complex energy algorithms and even basic quantum solutions, making him capable of solving any problem if exposed to enough consistent data.
Reinforced Exo-Skeleton: Most of Paragon’s body is covered by a mechanical exo-skeleton, which provides him basic protection from extended falls and firearms, and grants him an increased level of strength. The outside is laminated with an unknown material, providing him extra protection against physical attacks and varying degrees of protection against energy attacks.
Mechanical Stamina: As an android, Paragon is capable of considerable displays of speed and strength. If any portion of his body is severely damaged, he is also capable of removing it and replacing it with a compatible part.
Combat Programming: Whether due to his programming or a natural affinity for the training provided by ARC, Paragon has shown himself to be very adaptive to military training, and proves himself very capable to the use of weaponry, despite his natural reservations about violence.
Shielding: Channeling the energy of his Power Core, Paragon’s combat form creates a constant intangible shield around him to protect him from attacks. While his Power Core has all the potential of a miniature nuclear power plant, he can only safely produce a small amount of that for shielding. His energy shield is powerful enough to stand to only a handful of powerful attacks--as much as one charged burst from his Paragon Blaster--however it recharges rapidly over five second intervals. His shielding provides limited protection against thin, sharp attacks like blades or claws.
Adaptive Intelligence: While all Harmony-bots constructed have a considerable emphasis upon intelligence and problem-solving, Paragon has the greatest focus on adaptation. Repeated exposure to almost any situation allows him to examine and counteract almost any situation, from energy outflow to complex algebraic formulas, allowing him to solve almost any problem and hack efficiently into any computer system. His ability to react in this way makes him more effective than all but the pinnacle of humanity, displaying a level of adaptivity
Iris-Program Transponder: Utilizing the Iris teleportation satellite via his personal transponder chip, Paragon is capable of long-range jumps over hypothetically any distance, although only the sites of regular safe jumps are recommended due to the immense dangers of a mistake in the Iris system.
Power Core: The Apollo 8XM Power Core is one of the most advanced power cores developed by Harmony Inc., allowing the output of significant amounts of power without inhibiting unit performance. The 8XM however has an added ability, which is to mimic the output of various energy-based abilities. If exposed to such an energy source, Paragon is able to imitate and assimilate it using his weapon. It can also absorb energy-based attacks.
Paragon Blaster: While most ARC-level robots typically have specialized firearms catering to their individual talents, the Paragon Blaster is a different animal altogether. Combining the basic Harmony Blaster together with technology from the unit attached to Paragon’s original chassis. Though not as powerful as the Commander’s Eclipse Blaster or the Dash Cannon, it is more flexible and has a greater variety of powers. It can shift between a stun mode for organics, a disabling ionic charge for machines, and a plasma mode, though he is reluctant to use this ability on organic lifeforms. These can all be charged or fired in short bursts. These smaller shots can equate up to a kilogram of TNT. At its greatest charge, a charged plasma blast has enough power to produce up to a megagram and a half's worth of TNT, although this requires a charging period of several seconds. Paragon is equipped with two of these weapons he can use at will.
Plasma Sword: Using his personal blasters, Paragon is capable of producing a broadsword made of plasma, extending it from one foot to three and a half feet. He can also affect the energy output of each weapon. When combined with his enhanced AI, the normally docile Paragon can prove a very quick and accurate swordsman, predicting his enemy's reactions before they commit fully to them.
Plasma Cutter Disc: The Plasma Cutter is a small, round disc, ten inches in diameter, fitted with a Plasma Cutter. A device that produces a powerful plasma field capable of cutting through material and resisting jets of pure plasma. Plasma Cutters are known to slice through any physical material, though they can be stopped by powerful enough shields. The Plasma Cutter Disc is a weapon Paragon is quite deft at using, and can even wield it in either hand as a melee weapon.
Flame Burst: While referred to as a ‘flame burst’, this attack is not technically a flame. Rather, a Flame Burst is a ball of molten heat and metal fired as a projectile. This core is a liquid alloy or uranium and tungsten, with a metullium solid core. The heat of this attack can reach 8000 degrees Celsius. By charging his Flame Burst for more than ten seconds, his Power Core can reach enough speed to solidify in flight, hitting targets with enough force to penetrate most forms of metal or shielding. Paragon can only fire eight rounds of his Flame Burst, whether charged or uncharged, without refueling.
Freeze Burst: By concentrating the nitrogen in the air, Paragon can fire a burst of ice at his target. This attack slows computer processes, and can be used as a non-lethal way to restrain targets for nonlethal takedowns. When Paragon charges this attack, his Paragon Blaster is capable of reducing the temperature in a thirty foot radius to absolute zero, temporarily stopping movements by mechanical foes and freezing organics in place. The regular attack can be used 25 times without recharging, however the charged version of Freeze Burst requires five charges worth to be successfully performed. Paragon can also use this ability to create structures made of ice, such as bridges or walls.
Electric Beam: Channeling the electric potential of his Power Core, Paragon is capable of releasing a powerful electric current, strong enough to pass through those in its way. This current is devastating against mechanical foes, particularly those with exposed circuits. This current is powerful enough to make mechanical foes seize, making it a nonlethal option for dealing with mechanical foes. Against organics, it can cause them brief paralysis. When charged, the beam becomes substantially more powerful, forming a powerful beam. This beam produces a low level EMP around it as well, making it a hazard to mechanical foes. The Electric Beam can be used twelve times.
Black Hole Generator: While not strictly a black hole, the Black Hole generator creates a field of intensive gravity which can be used to absorb attacks or harm foes. The generator releases a small orb via the Paragon Blaster that can be controlled remotely. It can be detonated on a timer or remotely, creating a sphere of intensive gravity that pulls nearby enemies and enemy projectiles to it. It can suck in almost any small or human-sized enemy, destroying them instantly, or damage larger and more powerful opponents. The effect of this weapon is drastically reduced against so called 'meta-humans' and androids, only damaging them instead of destroying them. The generator has five of these orbs, which require replacement at UNARC Central.
Gremlin Grenades: The Gremlin is a contained explosive fitted inside a round grenade the size of a plum. It can attach to objects using an adhesive, dropped as a mine or thrown. Paragon carries four of these weapons.
Energon Solution: Energon Solution is a canister of glue-like material which has hardening properties when not exposed to short-range electrical bursts. Using these bursts to harden the energon, Paragon can provide short-term repairs to fractures or injuries on his chassis. He carries enough for three or four injuries, depending upon their severity.
Paragon is a robotic android, and as an artificial humanoid is susceptible to electric damage. While his body has been designed to withstand microwaves, magnets, electric shocks, ion blasts and EMPs, he remains vulnerable against such attacks.
A critical weakness of all androids is their AI. While the Artificial Intelligences of most androids is considerable, and their digital connections carefully protected, they remain vulnerable to attacks by local connections. Most threats are beneath the concern of an Android grade intelligence, but a significant enough one may force the android to shut down in order to dispatch the threat.
While intelligent, especially for an android, Paragon has a kind and unassuming demeanor. Always expecting the best of people no matter where he meets them. His very binary sense of righteousness drives him to protect the innocent and defeat evil, but it could potentially be turned against him. The boy never refuses a cry for help or someone in need.
Sweet Tooth: While not a weakness per se, Paragon has a strong desire for boyish sweets, including ice cream and root beer.
