WELCOME
We’re more than just a club.

Fitness Club, as I’m sure you all have noticed, has slipped quietly into the great beyond where old ideas go to collect dust. From its ashes though, a new institution focused on seeking to help the Collectivites accomplish their wellness goals has emerged: The Health Center.

HC has all the things you loved about the Fitness Club. The discord is still up and running, now with a few tweaks to better serve our purposes going forward (please PM Brooke or Georgeanna for the invite link), we will still have a home base thread on the forum found here for anyone to talk “shop” about their well-being, and our enthusiasm is back and better than ever.

Each week, we will be leading off with a discussion question, and each month there will be a theme. Save for that though, goals, activities, challenges, and everything in between will be controlled by YOU. We are here to support you on reaching your goals, not just to challenge you to do 50 push-ups every day. That means more opportunities to talk about every aspect of health: fitness, food, mental health, and everything in between.

:bluebullet: Go ahead, give it a try. The only thing that is stopping you, is you :bluebullet:

Let us know what you think! If you have any comments questions or concerns, please feel free to direct them to BrookeDi or Georgeanna.

Disclaimer: This is more of about looking for ways to motivate and support each other as a group. We may share advice, tips, and tricks from our own experiences and research, but we are not experts in fitness or nutrition. You are participating at your own risk. Please take care of your body, consult with your doctor, and listen if something doesn't feel right. We are not liable for any injuries that may occur.

So yes, this is all very cute with the pineapple picture and whatnot, but how is this Health Center going to function? For the purposes of our mission, Discord is essential. Please reach out so we can add you to the group. If this poses an issue, please talk with either Brooke or myself so that we can find an alternative for you.

Our Commitment to You:
:bluebullet:Monthly Focuses: We will be giving y’all a topic to think about, related to either mental or physical health. This will be the theme for the month and most guided discussion will pertain to that theme. This does not, however, negate the ability to talk about other issues, and is more as a suggestion for focusing our energy on one thing at a time. One aspect of health tends to impact other aspects, so as much as this is YOU driven, we also wanted to provide some guidance.

:bluebullet:Weekly Catch-Ups: Every Sunday you can expect Brooke or myself to message you all with questions about how your week went and what you think about the focus. It’s time for us to debrief as a squad. The idea behind this is to help with accountability. Success is more likely, when you have the support of someone checking in and asking, “so, how did it go.” At least, that’s our hope. Our intention is not to badger you or judge if a goal was not met or you didn’t have a stellar week.

Your Commitment to Yourself:
:bluebullet: Use Your Resources: There are several channels in the discord to make life easier; where we can share recipes, tip and tricks, and ideas on how to obtain the healthy lifestyle we are all pursuing.

:bluebullet: Be Kind to Yourself: Share your triumphs, brag about that goal that you absolutely smashed, and don’t be afraid to vent when you’re frustrated (we even have a special channel dedicated to each side of the coin!). We are here to walk alongside you.

:bluebullet: Stay Consistent: Life gets in the way sometimes, but we hope to see you stop around every so often.

Yaaay! I'm so glad this has been ressurected! My 10-week programme has come to an end, and although I paid to stay with the personal trainer for a further 10 weeks, and the group exercise classes are going to continue every week, the baton has been passed firmly back to me to keep up the motivation.

Since the beginning of this year i have lost over a stone, according to my PT I have lost 8kg. My fitness has increased exponentially! The programme started towards the end of January and I "ran" parkrun (a free, timed 5k) with my friend on her birthday on the 16th February. I barely made it halfway round lap 1 of 3 before I had to walk, and from there I mostly walked with a few stretches of running thrown in when I could. I haven't managed to get to another parkrun since (they're on every Saturday at 9am, all over the world, would highly recommend if there's one near you), until this weekend.

I was away with my mum, staying near my friends house. My mum is an avid parkrunner and runs every week without fail, so we decided to do the one near my friend again. Considering I had done absolutely no running since my last attempt in February, I managed to run the entire course! I ha,be never been more proud of myself in my life! It just goes to show how much increasing general fitness can help too. I've done a lot of different activities in the last few months, and done weekly gym sessions with the PT, mostly focussing on increasing strength.

I go to the gym once a week, and do a group session (the different activities) once a week too. So I only have to commit to two days a week. I've been a bit more considerate of what I eat,but not overly so. You just have to set your mind to it, which is, I think, the hardest part.

We can do this together guys!

Welcome to our second week of discussion in May!

We are continuing on with our discussion about mindful eating, but we are shifting focus from mindful eating as a whole to the more specific goal of “cutting out” certain foods.

We at the health center thought it’d be cool this week to have a discussion on elimination versus moderation. Are there certain foods you think you could or should get rid of? Or do you think that moderation is key in all things?

Feel free to respond in the thread below or PM BrookeDi or Georgeanna for an invite to the discord group for a more timely discussion.
