Name: Violet Masseria

Age: 23

Occupation: Amateur singer, though don't tell her that. She's also a daughter of a mob boss, which comes with some level of responsibilities.

Appearance: Violet stands at 5'7'' with brunette hair that falls just past her shoulders. It's typically curled up at the ends, typical of the style of that era. Her eyes waver between green and hazel, depending on the lighting.

Time Spent at the Speakeasy Frequent visitor.

Skills: Singing, socializing, strategizing, and observation.

Other: Controlling, fond of scarves and other clothing accessories, impulsive; Violet is rarely seen without makeup. She is prone to humming, and for the close observers, she's not quite as airheaded as she pretends to be. She's also quite fond of the magic show that is sometimes put on in Wheeler Pharmacy.

Brief History: Violet's mother died a few months after she was born. Since then, it's always been Violet, her father, and their maid who doubled as a nanny. At the time that she was born, her father, Joe Masseria, already had some power within the mafia, but he was busy trying to solidify his position as a Boss. Her childhood was frequently spent absent of a father, but she performed well in school. As she entered her teen years, Violet began forcing her company upon Joe, and he soon discovered the keen mind that lay beneath the pretty face. Charles Luciano was his right-hand man, but it wasn't long until he began relying heavily on his daughter's input. It is not widely known how involved Violet is in her father's business, something the two of them prefer to keep to themselves. When in the presence of company, Violet acts as a lady should and pretends not to notice anything beyond the pretty things in life. She appears vain (which may not be far from the truth), and airheaded.

How would your character describe themselves? If she's being perfectly honest, which most often she is not, she would describe herself as ambitious and cunning. If she's answering this question to someone other than the few that she trusts? She'd say she's a great singer with quality fashion taste.

Name: Leland Alfonso

Age: 40

Occupation: Proprietor of Wheeler Pharmacy

Appearance: Leland is 5'10'', thin, and almost gaunt looking. He's always slightly hunched over, and he shaves his head completely (technically the top of his head had gone prematurely bald, so he shaved the rest so as not to look so old). Mr. Alfonso wears reading glasses that often sit atop his head. He's rather spry and moves around the pharmacy (and the associated speakeasy) with immense energy.

Time Spent at the Speakeasy Frequent, as he is the 'owner.'

Skills: Pharmaceutical talents (dosages, making medications, etc.), lockpicking, and business savvy.

Other: Leland is usually wearing his white coat, and beneath that jeans with a polo tucked in. His speech is frequented by the word "um," and he is prone to tapping his fingers when his mind is occupied. He has an extensive collection of coffee mugs, evident by the fact that he's drinking out of a different one every day.

Brief History: Leland grew up in a low-income family, but he worked hard in school and was able to get a scholarship to cover most of his college education. He worked at Mr. Wheeler's pharmacy as a boy, throughout high school and college, and continued to do so after he graduated. Mr. Wheeler had no heirs or immediate family, and as he said of his brother 'we don't even exchange mean-spirited Christmas cards,' so when he passed, the pharmacy when to Leland who now takes great pride in running the store. He opened the speakeasy not long after prohibition began with the help of Joe Masseria. As such, they split the profits 40/60 (and you can guess who takes the larger percentage).

How would your character describe themselves? Hardworking, and he'll tell anyone who will listen that working hard is how you'll get by in life.

Name: Antoni Yakavetta

Age: 25, birthday is July 28th

Occupation: Officially a used bookshop owner, the rustic Crinkled Peach, inherited at a young age from his grandmother. Unofficially, hes what you would call a 'wise guy'.

Time Spent at the Speakeasy Frequent, in a variety of roles, but usually for a single purpose.

Skills: Intimidation, persuasion, military combat training, and sleight of hand.

Other: In times of stress, the corner of his right eye twitches, noticeably. The more severe the stress, the more severe the twitch, but this only plays into the fact that Antoni has an impressively expressive face. When hes amused, you know it. When he is upset, you could swear his world had ended. When he is angry, the fury behind that face could melt steel. As the saying goes, he wears his heart on his sleeve. This young man also sports a plethora of military ink (8th Aero Squadron), and his fair share of war scars. Luckily, none of these are visible if Antoni is dressed, so most never see them.

Brief History: A young Italian-American on his mother's side, Antoni grew up in the not-quite slums for most of his childhood. When he was twelve, his father drove off a bridge, and a year later, his mother remarried. Things improved considerably after that. A new home, away from the gutters. A better home. While it was hardly anything grand, it was Antoni's first taste of what could be considered wealth to one who had lived more than a decade in poverty. It gave the boy a taste of what financial success could buy, and greed blossomed in his heart. Skip forward a few years, and Antoni is now a high school senior when America decided to enter the Great War, after years of sitting on the side lines. He and his school chums thought it would be the right thing to do to enlist, even if they had to fudge their ages by a year or two. Antoni himself signed up for the U.S Air Service, though not as a polite, but as a mechanic and engineer. Still, he saw combat. He saw war zones. He spent nights in trenches. He came home a completely different person than the one who had left, at least to those who really knew him. His is when he step-father pulled him into the 'family business', and it quickly became apparent to the mafioso that between Antoni's training, his resourcefulness, his avarice for worldly things, and his war-found "love" of violence, that he would make an excellent enforcer. They were right, beyond their wildest dreams. Its been a year since then, a year of bloodshed and intimidation and savagery. When the mob needs a rabid dog, they often turn to Yakavetta

How would your character describe themselves? "I'm a guy who can get things done. You need a car, I'll find ya one. You need a sandwich, shit, I know the best deli this side of town. Give 'em my name, and they'll even throw in a free pop, ya can count on it. You need a little bitch rubbed out, some pig-loving squealing rat ready to turn on ya for a dime? I don't know how, but I'll promise ya they find him stuffed in a barrel before he can utter a word. Like I said, I'm a guy who can get things done."

Name: David Jackson
Age: 23
Occupation: Construction Worker
Appearance: David stands at 5'11" with a stocky frame, long arms that reach down to his knees, short shaven black hair, skin like charcoal and warm brown eyes. A multitude of tiny pink scars crisscross his large palms and the back of his hands.
Time Spent at the Speakeasy Frequent visitor
Skills: Strong, durable, has a somewhat indepth knowledge of architecture.
Other: He often wears poor man's clothes, monotone shirts and leggings, often with oil stains and minute tears (and patches from fixing said tears) all along them. He is also quite clearly uneducated, and speaks simply.
Brief History: Born to a poor American family along with his twelve brothers and sisters, David didn't really have a hope from the beginning. Raised like many other African Americans at the time he grew up without any semblance of formal education, instead learning on the street and from his own family basic numeracy and English. At the age of 12 he got his first job working in a sheet metal factory but after numerous close calls, along with some permanent scarring on his hands, eventually left that business 4 years later and started working for a legitimate construction company. While not realising it at the time, David had a mind for the job and quickly found himself in an as good a stead as someone of his background could realistically reach.
How would your character describe themselves? He believes himself to be rather normal. He knows he's not smart, but he likes to think that while he doesn't have any fancy book knowledge he can make up for it by knowing a thing or two about how the world actually works. Despite his skin colour and general history, he is willing to stick up for himself to anyone that would be rude to him, as long as he thinks he can get away with it.
The past doesn’t define who you are.
It just... gives you the starting point for who you’re going to be. -Carolina, RvB

Name:James Howard

Age:29

Occupation:a fight fixer, a fighting coach, and a gambling man.

Appearance: James stands at 6’2 and weighs approximately 146 lbs. He has dark black hair and light blue eyes. He has a pretty boy face, with soft features and long eyelashes. James is on the skinny side and lacks defined muscles.

Time Spent at the Speakeasy Frequently

Skills:fighting knowledge, communication, good at hiding things, and a decent poker player.

Other:He typically wears a long loose fitting button up shirt(usually blue, red, or green) with gray pants and cap. Also dark suspenders and with a matching tie or bow tie.

Brief History:James was raised by uncle, in a shoddy one bedroom house. His uncle was a fighter so James basically grew up in the gym. He wanted to be a fighter like his uncle and spent many years practicing. Unfortunately he grew tall but not strong. James couldn’t gain muscle like his uncle and other fighters, no matter how hard he trained or how much he ate. So he a job cleaning the gym but that was really unsatisfying. Down the illegal path he went, hosting underground fight clubs and always making sure bets were being made. Then James met Patrick Finnegan, he saw him practicing in the gym, he could see all the potential in him. That’s how he became a coach. James helped Patrick refine his fighting and get him into bigger fights.

How would your character describe themselves?A man just living his life, with a good eye for profit.
"What you look like on the outside is not what makes you cool at all. I mean, I had a mullet and wore parachute pants for a long, long time, and I'm doin' okay."

Name: Patrick Finnegan

Age:25

Occupation: An amateur, heavyweight boxer.

Appearance: Patrick is built like a brick house with the 2nd floor cut off. 5'9 and 262lbs of muscle akin to an Burly, Irish Mike Tyson. Gray-Blue eyes with buzzed, brown hair on a man that dresses like it's always his day off.

Time Spent at the Speakeasy: Fairly often

Skills: Brute strength, Fighting, Athleticism, Being Adorkable, Smarter than the average bear

Other: Dresses like a bum, unless there is someplace important he has to be. Doesn't like talking much, but when he does it is very methodical and deep in tone.

Brief History: Patrick was always the small kid in class. Often taken advantage of by the larger, older kids in forms of bullying and such. Coming from a poor family, he learned quickly to either stay out of the way or make sure that if someone tries to punk you that you better make sure you have enough courage to get up when they try and take you down. He did well in school and sport until his father mysteriously disappeared during his pre-teen years.

Eventually, he took up a job at the docks to pay for his desired profession. Prize-fighting. Thankfully, a man named James Howard seen something in him and has been working with the kid hopefully on their way to the top.

How would your character describe themselves? "A lonely man working for his shot at greatness."
