Officially a used bookshop owner, the rustic Crinkled Peach
, inherited at a young age from his grandmother. Unofficially, hes what you would call a 'wise guy'.
Time Spent at the Speakeasy
Frequent, in a variety of roles, but usually for a single purpose.
Intimidation, persuasion, military combat training, and sleight of hand.
In times of stress, the corner of his right eye twitches, noticeably. The more severe the stress, the more severe the twitch, but this only plays into the fact that Antoni has an impressively expressive face. When hes amused, you know it. When he is upset, you could swear his world had ended. When he is angry, the fury behind that face could melt steel. As the saying goes, he wears his heart on his sleeve. This young man also sports a plethora of military ink (8th Aero Squadron), and his fair share of war scars. Luckily, none of these are visible if Antoni is dressed, so most never see them.
A young Italian-American on his mother's side, Antoni grew up in the not-quite slums for most of his childhood. When he was twelve, his father drove off a bridge, and a year later, his mother remarried. Things improved considerably after that. A new home, away from the gutters. A better home. While it was hardly anything grand, it was Antoni's first taste of what could be considered wealth to one who had lived more than a decade in poverty. It gave the boy a taste of what financial success could buy, and greed blossomed in his heart. Skip forward a few years, and Antoni is now a high school senior when America decided to enter the Great War, after years of sitting on the side lines. He and his school chums thought it would be the right thing to do to enlist, even if they had to fudge their ages by a year or two. Antoni himself signed up for the U.S Air Service, though not as a polite, but as a mechanic and engineer. Still, he saw combat. He saw war zones. He spent nights in trenches. He came home a completely different person than the one who had left, at least to those who really knew him. His is when he step-father pulled him into the 'family business', and it quickly became apparent to the mafioso that between Antoni's training, his resourcefulness, his avarice for worldly things, and his war-found "love" of violence, that he would make an excellent enforcer. They were right, beyond their wildest dreams. Its been a year since then, a year of bloodshed and intimidation and savagery. When the mob needs a rabid dog, they often turn to Yakavetta
How would your character describe themselves?
"I'm a guy who can get things done. You need a car, I'll find ya one. You need a sandwich, shit, I know the best deli this side of town. Give 'em my name, and they'll even throw in a free pop, ya can count on it. You need a little bitch rubbed out, some pig-loving squealing rat ready to turn on ya for a dime? I don't know how, but I'll promise ya they find him stuffed in a barrel before he can utter a word. Like I said, I'm a guy who can get things done."
