Hello, hello.
Hello, hello.
It has been nearly a decade from the last time I participated in a role play forum. It is an aspect of my life that I have missed terribly. One of the more sad events that took place in my teens was when Avidgamers did its final crash and it was not resurrected. I had so many characters lost. So many plots that had been years in the development and undertaking, simply vanish. In hindsight I could say that is what caused me to drift away from role playing because I did not have the energy to start afresh at the time. Now, in my late twenties, I want to write with other people. I have been chipping away at a novel for the last few months but it is not as satisfying as writing with another person (or people) for character and plot development. The relationships that are more in-depth because they are coming from not just your own mind.
All of the above to say, hello. I am looking forward to hashing out a character or two that I will be able to manipulate and have interact with others.
My main focus when I was role playing had been historical time periods or light fantasy in history or modern day. I was and still remain too afraid to dive into futuristic role plays. I just cannot extend myself to that genre. But that it what an RP forum is so beautiful for. You are only limited by your own expectations.
Cheers.

Re: Hello, hello.
Hey, Athaliah, welcome to the Collective!
Gotta say, I feel you about losing all your work. I was in an old forum when i was younger and they wiped it one day. All those stories, my very first rps, gone.
But now I know better and don't save anything!
So, what type of genres do you enjoy writing?

Re: Hello, hello.
Also, here is our handy guide!
To start you off, you might want to check out our Newbie Guide. It's a great first step to orienting yourself and seeing what the Collective has to offer, plus our rules, cause those are important. If you find a question or concern of yours isn't covered in the guide, feel free to track down a member of staff, we are the ones with green or purple usernames, we are pretty easy to spot.
If you want to get your feet wet, check out our Always Open RP's. These are usually run by people looking for writers to join their little adventures, great way to get things going .
If you already have an idea for an RP or are looking to see some rp's that haven't started yet, check out the Interest Checks section. This is where people post up an idea and try to gauge if there is any interest in it before starting a proper OOC thread.
If you want to chat with the other members of the forum, feel free to join our Discord server.
So that should be a good way to start you off. Remember, if you have any questions feel free to ask, we won't bite.

Welcome aboard, Athaliah. You'll definitely find some talented writing partners here. Regarding your novel-in-progress, we've got an Original Works section if you want to show off a chapter or two.
