Taroga

Taroga strangely didn't take offense to his sister's suggestion that he might have killed Onam. She was probably right, but he was sure he would've been able to hold himself back from doing so. Unnecessary deaths tended to ruin the vibe on road trips. Or space trips in their current sense. He had been sure that if anyone had gotten into a fight while they were on the ship he would've been the first one. Perhaps some of his ways were starting to rub off on his sister. He was interested in seeing how badly this would turn out.

Taroga held back a laugh at the fighter's first true display of an attack. He would've deserved it but he remembered how humbled he felt when none of his attacks did anything to his opponent. His first fight with Namori and then later with the others against Khol. Both defeats had made stronger. Not just physically but spiritually as well. If they were lucky the same would be said for Onam here. Otherwise it'd be pointless for him to continue his journey as a warrior.

He smiled at his sister's display of power in return and noticed the changes she made to the Commander's technique. "Did anyone else enjoy watching that?"

Namori

Namori couldn't understand why Onam had such difficulty with using ki. Like Sakuranbo had said it was pretty much the basics. Even he had managed to learn it as a child and it didn't come as naturally to humans as it did Saiyans. But it was strange to him that Onam had this kind of power without the basic ability to use ki. He could feel a different kind of energy emanating from him in his fits of anger. It had a similarity to Chiaotzu, but was different as well. Stronger, but darker as well.

It was clear even before the fighting started who would win this. With the way things had started it was inevitable for a fight to break out. Namori just wouldn't have guessed that it'd be so soon or that Sakuranbo would have been the one to start it. He took note of her Spirit Ball Crush technique and immediately realized it was a combination of Yamcha's Spirit Ball technique and he believed to be one of Raditz's. It was also fairly similar to the technique he had originally wanted to make before the Saiyan invasion. But seeing the combination of two techniques did inspire him even more.

Kures watched this little display, noting that while she sensed power in the Earthling he wasn’t using ki at all. It was as if he were using sheer force of will to manifest an effect, very similar to Khol’s invisible punches. It was different, as it sought to press down upon the target, keep them pinned to the ground. Though the gap between the Earthling and her kin was such that didn’t really matter, she instead looked to Khol for some sort of reaction.

Khol’s eyes narrowed, well this was going to be a headache to say the least. He had some quite irksome companions, just itching to goad each other into fights. True, he basically fought every one he had come across before Earth. Reminded him he never did have a proper fight with Namori nor Yuki, excluding that time that the Star Child had made short work of Namori and Raditz’s remaining team members. Noting he’d actually had more fights with his sister than the pair of them combined, and he’d been around them for a lot longer.

Noting in passing that it seemed indeed that the Earthling had no clue what ki was let alone how to properly harness it. True, how many people at the budokai had actually a grasp on ki? The Turtle School, Piccolo, Yuki, Tien, Yamcha, Krillin, the rest showed martial prowess. Instinctively tapping into their ki to empower their actions, but that wasn’t mastery, it wasn’t even the basics when it came to ki control.

Though they had something else in their favour of this lack of talent, and as much as some had scoffed at it’s application. Khol understood it’s value. Projecting sheer force without ki, at least not in the traditional sense of the word. For he was pretty sure all forms of ability tapped into one’s inner power, it was much more potent than the kiai. At least it could be, as it required no physical action to project the force they unleashed. It could be projected from range, and was like the kiai invisible to the senses even that strange one that felt ki.

The fact that Sakuranbo had braced before taking it was likely a smart decision, as from the lack of anything that gave away an attack was coming she’d have been blindsided. Well aside from the cocky attitude, and the darkening of veins across their forehead, which wouldn’t help determine how an attack was coming. Her own technique made him smirk, pilfering ideas from Raditz and Yamcha, there was a joke there somewhere. He wasn’t a fan of techniques that limited his opponents, but then he was looking for a challenge as much as a victory, if not more so.

Though it was time to bring an end to this, regardless of the point, he rather not waste a senzu bean getting Bulma’s assistant back onto his feet. So he moved, his hand dancing across a console. Suddenly the gravity grew heavier, he noted in passing this was probably the worst way he could end this. The Earthlings weren’t ready for such a shift, heck even the Saiyans weren’t ready, as he wasn’t dialling it to a number they’d be comfortable with. His heart raced, he could feel a dull ache in his tail. Good, Bulma had outdone herself, he dialled it back though to just twice earth’s gravity.

“I think that answers why I was so excited, just had to test it. But I suppose we can start slow, Earth’s gravity is a tad gentle. But it’s the most some of us have been around for some time now.”

Kures had not certainly not expected Khol’s actions, going from Earth gravity, to beyond that of Planet Vegeta in short order was not something she had ever prepared for. She had to push with her entire strength just to keep standing, she was thankful she hadn’t worn saiyan armour today as the extra weight being multiplied would likely have made things embarrassing.

“What is it with you and not giving warnings? Some of us don’t like surprises.”

At least he dialled it back down, she could feel it, though it wasn’t much different from Earth to a saiyan. Though he felt Khol would have something sadistic in mind, as he’d managed to make Earth’s gravity training hellish for her.

“I wanted to make sure it worked, and maybe bring conversation back around to the purpose of this room.

He didn’t want to sound like he did it to end the little fight between what should be allies, his new status had a certain amount of authority he wasn’t ready to bring to bear. He was use to people having spats, but right now wasn’t the time to let one go on to far. So the absent minded joy to try out his new toy could disguise his real intent, at least enough to give certain people an out.

“This chamber has it’s own gravity control, and as you just felt I managed to persuade Bulma to go way beyond the gravity levels we are use to. But for the sake of some people’s spines, we can start slow.”

Kures could see it before the others, her hands going to her tail. She’d thought he was over this, hadn’t she gotten strong enough to not need to put her tail through such pain? This had been bad enough under Earth’s pull, and now he had the potential to make them go through it over and over again under harsher and harsher gravity.

“You really are a git, brother.”

Khol laughed, seems Kures had gotten the idea as to why keeping things slow for those born under Earth’s gravity wasn’t going to really harm Saiyan training. Though she should know saiyans don’t grow strong without a challenge, and he knew they could be challenged by something really simple under the right circumstances. At least they won’t find their training any less painful as an Earthling for some time to come.

“Perhaps, but it’s going to be worth it in the long run.”

*not one to give up easily, and still surrounded by his blue aura, and being buffeted towards the floor by the increased gravity, his arms hanging towards the ground, Onam continues trudging towards his opponent* "...not...done...yet

Taroga hadn't expected the sudden shift in gravity or Khol's role in it but he had no plans to be made a fool of. He forced his body to remain standing under the invisible mass of pressure that tried to bring him to his knees. He could feel his bones aching throughout his body and could almost hear the silent screams they let out in pain. Even his tail wasn't saved from the torture as it dropped towards the training room floor. He made a mental note to fight or kill Khol for this later.

He agreed with Kures about Khol's apparent dislike for giving warnings when people's bodies were going to be affected. "I... hate surprises."

Namori wasn't doing as well as the Saiyans when Khol attempted to crush everyone in the room. He immediately crashed down on one knee and pushed with his hands to keep from collapsing on the floor. He never felt anything like this before. The closest thing to it was his weight training but even that didn't feel like a constant force trying to push you down. He could feel the sweat glistening from his pores just from the effort it took for him to remain kneeling.

When the gravity changed again it was a lot more tolerable. It was similar to Earth's but different. He was surprised he could still feel anything but he feel the slight pressure on his body, but this time it was one that he could work against. Ever since he had learned how to fly he had almost forgotten about the existence of gravity and it became clear to him that he had been taking advantage of his planet's before now.

He slowly stood up, the cavitation formed bubbles in his joints cracking to life. "If you wanted to get us to kneel, Khol, you could've asked. I would have said no, but still."

Despite the machine nearly killing him, Taroga was impressed by the blue haired vixen. These humans never ceased to amaze. They really were an underestimated species. She managed to not only create a simulated gravity machine but also made it so that it only affected this room. He already planned to spend a lot of time here, but this was something he knew would help further his training.

His attention drifted towards Onam who didn't seem to be reading the room well. The fight was more than over and the subject changed to something actually worth their attention. He walked in between him and his sister and stood there firmly facing Onam. "This isn't one of those, 'I'm not giving up, no matter what.' moments. Trust me. I've had plenty of those. Your best bet is to take advantage of that guy being in mood to train. And frankly I don't want to be a victim of him testing out how much gravity it'd take to get us all on the floor. And in your state that level of gravity would kill you. So instead of fighting this hopeless fight, fight for your survival."

“Well...shit” onam plops to the floor, although clearly dissatisfied, giving himself a minute to breath, before once again forming a shell of energy and (futilely) attempting his technique over and over*

Yuki was finally made to brace against the sudden shift in gravity at such higher levels than the escape velocity had been, but seemed disappointed when Khol turned it back down. Honestly, she had thought for a moment that he had ignored her, but it turned out he just wanted to show off. Still, she was impressed by the revelation and was already missing the increase.

"I need it turned back up," she said directly. "As far as we can function within, then increased regularly as we travel." It sounded like she wouldn't need Khol's encouragement to push her training. It was truthfully only because she absolutely had to consider the limits of the others that she didn't specify it should be set to her limits, which would at least be higher than Onam and Sakuranbo's brother would have been able to handle.

The sudden jump from the gravity generator caused Sakuranbo to have to catch herself, but she wasn't picking herself up off the floor like the human. Still, the way her brother talked the human down sent a shot of pride through her heart, and she went over and clapped him on the shoulder.

"Wow, my brother, a voice of reason and restraint! Who abducted you and sent a cake with us, huh?"

“As much as that would be fun..”

Khol was sorely tempted to push things, after all he had his own training to think of. Though what good would that do? They weren’t ready for that, and they had to think about conserving their supply of senzu beans. Unless the cat could somehow make deep space deliveries, they were going to be a precious resource.

“We have to think long term, much to my disappointment.”

Looking at the weird assistant, who wasn’t exactly doing much in the way of assisting Bulma. He was the biggest limiting factor on their training progress, hadn’t even learned to control their ki. So no way they’d survive even Planet Vegeta’s gravity, let alone the sort of gravity it would take to give himself a real workout. Biology played as much a role in that as power, as a saiyan didn’t need to exert their power to withstand the gravity of their own home. They were after all born under it’s influence, hence how a saiyan could be weaker than an Earthling even under a tenth of the gravity of their home. Not so much the average Earthling of course, they were children, actually less than children in a majority of cases. But then he didn’t exactly hang around a lot of average humans, Bulma’s family was about it when it came those he knew with any degree of certainty.

“I’d suggest getting the kid there up to scratch, if you’re looking for a challenge?”

Chuckling cause well it would be a challenge, how does one teach something that came naturally to them? Most of his own life had been surrounded by beings who could wield ki, Terrans, Saiyans, those few Earthlings they called Z Fighters. So he wasn’t exactly sure how people actually learned it, it was as natural to himself as breathing. Might as well see if the lil ice princess had a better grasp on the subject, if not he was pretty sure Namori might. It wouldn’t be something the Turtle School would leave out, basics were seemingly important to Roshi.

“I’ve some saiyan tails to put through the ringer so to speak, which means weights, and rope. Less practical than using a plow, but then this is a ship so no ground to break up.”

Kures had flashbacks to that, thankful he wouldn’t be able to do it that way. But knowing Khol, it was going to be painful no matter how he intended to further their tail training.

“But you said it yourself when you trained me, we’re basically able to resist a tail grab.”

This was something she wanted to know, what was the point of further pain if it wasn’t going to do much in the way of further augmenting their ability to fight?

“Well considering we’re going to be ramping up the gravity slowly enough as to not cripple Earthlings, how else am I to ensure you are pushed to your limits? One’s tail is one of the few things that force us to grow in order to resist it’s paralysing pain. It’s also going to limit your fighting ability till you get use to it, each and every time the gravity goes up a notch.”

He was pulled out weights, balancing each in his palm as he surveyed the saiyans. Working out just how much each would be able to take on their tail, as they’d rather not have them accidentally get ripped off. Then bundling them together into three distinct piles held by straps, he looked at his own tail pondering.

“Where’s your weights then brother?”

Was he going to sit back and not take part? No way, that wasn’t Khol’s nature one bit. He was the one who demonstrated how to pull the plow, and he was even now holding what she knew to be a weighted sash with his tail.

“I’ve no need for the weights..”

Before she could protest his apparent unwillingness to do the same train, he flipped into the air. His tail catching an overhead bar, then promptly flexing pulling him up before letting him down before doing it again.

“..at least not under this amount of gravity.”

Kures actually turned away, muttering under her breath. She was definitely unsure who was worse, Kakarotto or Khol. At least Raditz was a normal by saiyan standards, no freakishness there at all.

“Simple task really, try to lift the weight with your tail. I’d settle for using your whole body to do it, it takes a while before you get around to actually doing this sort of thing with the tail alone.”

Letting go and with a flip landing on the ground, picking up the weights he’d set up he threw them to each of the saiyans. Kures stumbled a bit, her brother really had no clue about the fact he was a freak compared to the rest of them. Yes they would likely get as strong as him some day, but she doubted they’d ever get around to being so lax when it came to the notion of limitations. Considering the closest thing a saiyan had to religion was the belief there were not limits to their strength, Khol might be the closest thing they had to someone who practised what they preached.

“Suppose that leaves Earthlings to work out, get use to the gravity and enjoy the ride. I mean aside from helping bring Onam here up to speed, but I doubt you won’t enjoy a practice bout or two together while this lot are stretching the kinks out of their tails.”

Namori was likely to want some measurement on Yuki, they were once so evenly matched. But death had seemingly put a gap between them, he pondered if he was once again trying to keep saiyan and earthlings separated in training? Probably not, just that the saiyans had a weakness he knew how to take advantage of. Earthlings, their frailer overall nature aside didn’t have such an obvious weakness they could use to improve the gains from a training session. He himself though didn’t really have a goal in mind, he could do pull ups under this sort of gravity for days without achieving much of anything. He would keep an eye on the progress of others at this point, well that and continue the work he had begun some time ago now. Mastering the palm strike he’d created, well more than that, making it into a true technique in it’s own right. As for the moment it was a different way to channel the kiai, effective, and certainly devastating, but he liked to push things. Just look at his true Tera Flare, he pushed that to the point it hurt him, and frankly if he wasn’t willing to do the same with his other techniques, there wasn’t much of reason to train at all.

“At least things will be less stressful, no end of the world battles to distract one’s focus this time around.”
