Age: 35
Species: Human, with spliced wolf genes

Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Nationality: Gallaian (aka Fantasy Space French)
Setting: Off-Site tabletop game
Image
Appearance: 5’9”, with a body covered in a number of scars if you ever get the chance to see it. He usually has a beard, and hates when he has to shave it, feeling his looks are a bit too delicate and feminine still. His hair is brown and his eyes are teal

Strengths: Loyalty, martial skills, very good night vision, high stamina, other traits granted by his enhanced genes
Weaknesses: His own self doubt, his recklessness, his overpowering need to protect those he cares about even if it requires putting himself in danger
Special Skills: Military training. Ability to get stabbed a lot probably
Fears: Losing everything again

History:

Ren never knew his father, and his very early years were spent under the care of his mother, a young waitress who refused to tell anyone of his other parent. But she had little money, and so had been forced to sign her child up for gene splicing and mandatory military service in the Gallian Army. Though it hurt her, it also prevented her from falling into poverty and so at around the time the other children his age were starting their first stage of schooling, Ren was sent to the Academy.

The Academy was were those like him received their first taste of the military life. They were taught discipline, order, obedience, and soon the very basics of combat. Still, life wasn’t all hard, as they were allowed to socialize with others in their unit during downtimes. That is how Ren met Cerise, a feisty blonde girl who he immediately took a liking to. They were soon fast friends.

Almost as soon as Ren developed a concept of gender, he knew the one he was assigned at birth was wrong. Thankfully Gallia is accepting of this, and there was no fuss when he began to go by Renald in truth, and when he was able, he started to transition.

Cerise was supportive of all of this, and they managed to become even closer. Eventually, after the reached their teenage years, they developed a more friends with benefits type thing.

Shortly before graduation from the Academy, recruits received one more change. A pair of feathered wings spliced onto their backs, and then a crash course on how to use them. Ren absolutely loved the freedom that flight gave him, and relished the chances he got to do so.

Eventually, another land came calling for their allies help, a and currently facing a large rebellion that threatened to erupt into full scale civil war if not stopped soon. Ren himself was more on the rebel’s side than not, but orders were orders, and he was being sent out.

His squad was given orders to take out a local rebel stronghold. But upon seeing it, Ren could tell that it was just being used to house and care for civilians that supported the rebel’s cause. He refused to fire upon them. He was punished for it.

Framed for a training accident a mere month later, Ren was quickly found guilty. But instead of accepting this unfair punishment, he broke free and ran, finding a place underground to hide out.

This act of defiance did not go unnoticed, as public as it was. And Ren soon found himself at the head of his own small rebellion, one that seemed to grow with every passing day. They dogged and harassed the powers that be for a good five years before the end came.

The end was not something any of them expected, coming in the form of some kind of force that destroyed Gallia in a fiery cataclysm. Ren was the only survivor of the incident. His unconscious form was found by a passing ship, and his damaged wings amputated while he was out in order to save him further trauma. That left more than the two physical scars.

For five years Ren spent drifting, lost. With barely a purpose or clue, his only drive to find out what happened and to enact vengeance for his fallen home. He did some things he came to regret, the worst of them being the murder of a man who had stolen something very precious to him.

It was not until he found a loose group of oddballs and outcasts that he began to feel right again, forming strong bonds with his new companions.
