Night lay like a brightly speckled blanket over the slumbering town of Kiela. It was a quiet town, known for its livestock and not much else. However, it was common knowledge that the surrounding forests were so much more. People would walk into the glens of trees and find treasures, become inspired by some unspoken muse, or find a peace unlike that they had ever known. There was something benevolent about the collection of shrubbery and trees, and respect was evident in the way the townspeople revered it.

Mist was a rarity, but on a cold December night many years ago, it wound itself amongst the trees, pooling in clearings and reaching towards the sky. If one had looked on, it almost seemed like some of the air shifted with sentient purpose, investigating tree after tree, searching for something that eluded it. As the night wore on, gatherings of shadow and fog collected itself in the largest clearing. One moment she wasn’t, and the next she simply was, as if she’d been there all along, turning her head this way and that like an inquisitive child taking in the stars and forest that surrounded her. Her form flickered, edges blurring slightly amongst the shadows, but her grin shone out like a beacon against the night.

At first glance, G looks to be a normal human. Her hair hangs just past her shoulders in brunette waves, surrounding a face that hosts two green eyes that look perpetually curious. A splash of freckles stands out against her pale skin. Otherwise, her features are unremarkable, allowing her to blend into any crowd. Yet, that is only one of the two versions of herself. When in her incipient state, she is barely an outline of a person, muted grey save for two brightly shining eyes and a gleaming smile. She can dissipate her form till' she is merely a formless cloud of mist.

Like the vapors she arose from, G is tranquil and a fairly level-headed person, albeit curious. However, this peaceful nature often gives way to her more mischievous side. Often when she is in a more playful mood, her form flickers, perpetually stuck between her two different forms. Above all though, she is an observer, who enjoys being a part of and watching situations unfold as if she were being told a story. She finds life to be thrilling, and never seems to tire of adventures.

The full extent of her abilities is unknown, even to her.

-Flight: By halfway or fully changing form, she can suspend herself and move about in the air
-Shadow-travel: This is how she primarily travels, pooling her consciousness in one shadow and traveling through an “in-between” to arrive in another shadow. This is as easy to her as breathing, however, she can only do so when she is in her mist-like state.
-Hyper-linguist: Can listen to any language and learn it. For basic proficiency, it may take a few hours of observation, and the more she speaks it herself, the more advanced she becomes.
-Blade Wielding: G is skilled at wielding dual shadow blades that she can conjure.
-Shadow and Mist Manipulation: This is fairly useless, but she can shape shadow and mists into pictures. This serves as nothing other than a way for her to pass the time and amuse herself and her companions.

Snapshot of a Sunny Day

Post by Athena [Georgeanna] » Tue Jun 12, 2018 12:44 pm

Lifting her hand to a tree, G concentrated on keeping her form solid, seeing a flash of pale skin before it passed through the trunk in a haze of grey mist. Narrowing her eyes, she tried again, keeping one eye cracked open to look at the offending hand. Seeing it as a physical shape once more, the woman pressed it lightly against the bark of the oak and gasped. It felt rough beneath her fingertips, and entirely different than she had anticipated. And without warning, her hand dissipated once more with her shock, and the sensation of touch left with it. Frustrated, she let out a tiny noise of irritation and turned from the tree, floating into the clearing.

The sun was bright that day, nearly making the creature translucent in its brilliance. Light stabbed through her, a sudden feeling of fatigue washing over her—she had been trying to gather her being into a physical form for days and the strain was taking a toll. G wasn’t sure where she went when she wasn’t aware, but she certainly wasn’t sleeping. She existed and then she simply didn’t for a time, but she always came back. Sometimes she’d be in the same place, and other times she’d be miles away from where she remembered being. It worried her, not being able to control herself, but every time she slipped into the abyss she felt no fear—such was the case this time, as she disappeared in the rays of midafternoon.
