Disjointed Jumbling of Thoughts

Welcome to my original works thread. Here's where I'll be dumping poetry, short stories, and anything else I might be in the mood for writing.

Enjoy~

Updates:
I've expanded one of my ideas and made a new thread called Brought to Life. Consider checking it out!

While you're here, I'd love an opinion on:

Woman

Post by Athena [Georgeanna] » Fri Dec 01, 2017 10:11 am

Toes digging into the dirt. Heart pumping. Running faster than Time cared to lazily carry on; he’ll catch up in the future. Breaths coming in startled gasps as hair whips around with promise of never truly sorting itself out. Responsibility came to watch, but had other things to do.

Her heart carried Her further and further in the woods, fervently pulling at Her veins and arteries as it skipped in front. Stumbling over Difficulty who had decided to appear with too little warning, She continued on after her runaway heart. Feral tried to get Her to tear down the vines in her way, but She chose to duck. No need to be unnecessarily nasty.

Where was Her heart going you ask? She didn’t even know. Why it was going to the one place where all troubled souls flock—Anxiety waited as he beckoned his two new playmates. He was often mistaken for Responsibility, or even Excitement. He was not.

Her heart decided to jump back in Her chest, suddenly bashful. She faced Anxiety with all the flecks of mania in her eyes that he did.

Where have you been, beloved?

She had places to be.

Why did you choose to go there?

She just had. Should She not have—

No.

Her heart cowered. Anxiety knew things that She didn’t. He bound her arms with Fear’s bondages (he had recently been lending them out). It was with the hood belonging to Insecurity that he blinded her. Whipped by Agony’s cat o’ nine tails, She collapsed on the foliage covered ground. The world suddenly was not the grove that She knew.

She ran into Difficulty more often, who was pleased enough with placing himself in her way now that She could not see. It was Sadness who coddled Her more often than not, stroking Her hair as She sobbed underneath her hood.

Screaming out, She finally could not go on with Her ties and Her hood and Her scars. She collapsed into Depression’s embrace. And She was numb. Finally.

Courage had been looking for Her for ages when she found Her in the clutches of Her own mind. Lifting the hood, Courage saw the tears and wiped them away. Undoing the ties, Courage returned the capabilities that She had lost. Healing the wounds, Courage smiled at Her.

What is your name, dearest?

Her name was Woman and She was strong.

Trash

Post by Athena [Georgeanna] » Thu Dec 28, 2017 4:37 pm

This line’s from a book no one reads
I don’t know why.

They say it’s terribly written
Completely unbidden
Violates social niceties
And should be kept hidden.

All the same, this funny line's inside it
And yet no one can find it
Because no one reads it
Because it’s trash.

Things like this are why I read trash.

Ledges

Post by Athena [Georgeanna] » Sun Jan 21, 2018 2:11 pm

My fingers skim the ledge,
so close but not close enough.
But as I fall another edge comes up,
but I miss that as well.
Always slipping,
Always falling,
Always dropping like a stone.

Each time I see the handhold
my heart soars despite
falling.
But every time the hope flies above my head
as I continue my descent.
Always losing,
Always hoping,
Always dropping like a stone.

I know the floor is coming
quick.
I know that once I hit it, things will be over
fast.
But I’m gripping onto the hope that another ledge will come
soon.

Two

Post by Athena [Georgeanna] » Wed Feb 07, 2018 9:45 am

Two pinprick holes,
scabbed and bruised round the edges,
drag things in and pull things out.
Two weary lungs,
weak and enfeebled before their time,
suck things in and push things out.
Two bloodshot eyes,
dry and irritated from long nights,
take things in and close things out.

Two weathered hands,
dried out by gels and soaps,
grab things close and push things away.
Two skinny legs,
thinned by atrophy and disuse,
move things close and kick things away.
Two halves of a whole,
conflicted within a skull,
pull things close and block things away.

Constellations

Post by Athena [Georgeanna] » Sat Mar 10, 2018 5:43 am

Honey, you’re a series of constellations.
The scars on your skin connect
and paint a tapestry of stories on your body.
The story’s all there in the slight points
of irregularity on your flesh.

Your soul is a gathering of stars,
collecting and spinning together into
one
beautiful
you.

The eyes you see the world out of are dazzled
by the little things you notice,
and the ideas that seep
into your own personal galaxy.

You’re a celestial being,
made of the dust that brought the heavens together.
Don’t forget it.

Ladies

Post by Athena [Georgeanna] » Wed May 23, 2018 7:11 am

Ladies rule the world.
The internet is just teeming
with women who inspire.

Women who are lovely businesswomen.
Those who sing like angels.
Goddesses are all around.
Ladies who have the best kind of sass,
advocates who don't give in,
women who use colloquialisms in ways that make me laugh,
those who embrace their competitive spirit,
and ones with fancy presidential references.
There's some that love cooking,
others that are gaming bosses.

And they aren't only one thing.
Without labels;
without restrictions;
they can do anything.

To those who are new around here,
welcome to the team.

Three 100-Word Rambles

Post by Athena [Georgeanna] » Mon Jun 25, 2018 3:29 pm

Welcome
Welcome to my mind, she wrote in loops and swirls. Welcome to the madness, the creativity, and the order that coexists in perfect harmony. How her mind did spin, and now it was open for visitors. Guided tours were not a part of the trip, though. You could see that the doormat was neatly placed, cursive letters greeting you as you stepped in. Pictures were chaotically placed on the wall—no rhyme or reason—waving at you as you passed. A couch beckoned you to stay awhile, while a clock constantly reminded you that you had other places to be.

A Table and A Cup
A wooden table is a castle for a cup, its solid base protecting its guests from falling to the unforgiving floor. Things might topple on the surface, spilling their contents, but the table never minds. Its one purpose is to exist, and it will happily do so all the days that it's able. A cup to a wooden table is a liability. The poor fragile object unable of controlling itself, liable to get snatched away by some person and tapped against a wall or thrown down a hall. Yet, it is just as pleased as the table, serving its purpose.

Morse Code
Beats. Always. Stuck. With. Him. They. Always. Seemed. To understand. They. Knew. What he meant. Finally. Something understood his words. They weren’t words of letters. They. Were. Staccato. Drumming. Noises. There. Was. No. Tune there. Just. Noise. Pure and simple. Chaos. Transformed into blissful order. The rhythm itself did that.

You. Have to listen carefully. The beat. Won’t reveal itself. It never did. To him. The boy looked for. It. And suddenly it just was.

At times, quiet kindles glimmering, malicious, needless thoughts. Yes, questioning exaggerations. The silence was suffocating, feeding him grand lies, so he sought out the rhythm.
