This RP will consist of a group of up and coming thieves attempting to make a name for themselves in the highly lucrative and risky world of criminal activity. You will play a new recruit of The Outfit, a fresh faced organization bank rolled by Elsie Jean van der Hoek and run by her partner in crime, Marcos Ladro. You will start out with simple jobs, the heist of a small town bank or theft of a local gang’s safe. After making a name for ourselves we will begin to take on more lucrative, and more dangerous, work. Taking down a heavily guarded truck transporting military grade CPUs, or stealing a priceless painting on the night of its premiere at a new museum.
Each and everyone of you are professionals, well, not exactly, but you will be. Pick one of the roles below, slap it onto your character, and mold them into a unique, highly trained professional that is a cut above the others.
The Grifter deals in trust and charm. They gain the trust of their mark, and then use it against the people who’ve entrusted it to them. They’re at their best in social situations and are good at acting, lying, and manipulating people. Pretending to be a businesswoman from Germany, convincing a Mark to buy a fake Rolex, or distracting a guard so the Muscle can knock him out would all be part of the grifter playbook.
Are you a grifter that excels at laying on the charm? Or do you go in, fluster your target, disorient them and get what you need in their moment of confusion?
The Hacker deals in information. They get it for the Crew, deny it to the Mark, use it to help the Crew, or manipulate it to take the Mark down. They usually do this by cracking computer networks and security systems, but Hackers are also often good with physical tools and obtaining items the Crew needs. Hacking a network firewall, eavesdropping on the Mark’s cell phone, and “airbrushing” a photo ID are all part of the Hacker’s trade.
Are you a hacker that does all his work from a remote location? Whether that be back at HQ or inside a white van just outside the bank? Or would you rather go in with the crew, using your gadgets to disrupt cameras, unlock doors, or take down a S.W.A.T. teams communications?
The Muscle deals in force. They engage in direct combat to put force on bad guys, getting them out of the way. Engaging in combat, sizing up a tactical situation, and intimidating a guard is part of being the muscle.
Are you the type of grunt to smack a back talking guard to keep everyone else in line? Or are you smooth professional, taking down a squad of police officers with your superior marksmanship?
The Burglar deals in access. They get themselves and the Crew access by breaking through security systems, and they use access to steal items or information. Sneaking past a guard, cartwheeling through a room of laser sensors, and picking the Mark’s pocket is just a glimpse into the world of the Burglar.
Are you the type of burglar who can scale a wall with only her hands and no safety? Or the type who is a master safecracker?
Four possible roles, it’s up to you to make it unique. Also, pick out a talent or skill you excel at. Are you an excellent sniper? Can you hack bank security systems at a faster pace? Did you practice boxing? Are you a great cook? What’s one skill that sets you above the average criminal.
So, if you want to start a career with the Outfit, please Let us know your name, a little bit about yourself and what you do. Two to three paragraphs max. We are looking for 3 to four people so we can have a well rounded crew, so get to it.
