Onam stares for a moment in complete silence, almost seeming in awe...before bursting in to laughter. Doubled over, wheezing, uncontrollable laughter at the sheer audacity of this **child**. He pays the ice trick little attention, fully aware that the people on this ship would have remarkable abilities, possibly even somewhat akin to his, so this was fairly unimpressive, although, between the breaks in his bout of laughter, he remarked on the fact that this completely changes the laws of thermodynamics as they are understood. After calming down a bit, Onam opts too just brush past the little girl still chuckling at the sheer guts of the child.

And ... she let him, perhaps contrary to the fears of everyone else on the training bridge who were probably certain of some inevitable doom to befall the man, some even preparing to intercede.

"He chose to leave, then," was all she said, then turned back to the others. "Pray he does not return while I am in this room. Namori, let me know wen you are recovered and ready to train. In the meantime, I will meditate. Traveling the stars may be all well and good for the Saiyans, but I must focus my spirit."

So saying, the ice princess went to a far corner and simply knelt there and closed her eyes. Quietly, so as not to disturb the others, she would gradually begin a meditative chant, a song-prayer to Himavat. There was little doubt she was focusing her energies, but it was all internal, no flashing lights or glowing auras.

Namori was disappointed to see that Onam turned down Yuki's offer of training. He still wasn't entirely sure why the man had joined them on this voyage. He had no plans of getting along with anyone on board and Bulma was more than capable of doing her own maintenance. At the moment he seemed to be nothing more than a liability. Especially when they didn't know what to expect when they got to Namek. Did Khol just like the idea of adding a wild card to their party? He decided to forget about it and focus on his training.

Some time had passed since then and Namori was almost ready to start his match against Yuki. Whenever he took a moment of rest between sets he watched her intently. She had remained in that corner and he couldn't stop himself from being intrigued by the meditation she was doing. Everyone there was doing some form of physical training, but her focus was on the spiritual side of training. She had always been interesting; ever since he met her years ago at the tournament. She's grown remarkably since then and now was the time to see how much. He doubted he'd be able to push her to the point of using her power, but he was expecting a good fight nonetheless.

Namori stood to his feet ready to collect on the challenge he issued. His arm wasn't completely healed but he could fight with it. He recovered his stamina so it was now or never. He walked over to the corner Yuki secluded herself in and gave a bow. "I'm sorry for interrupting your meditation, but I'm ready."

When Namori finally went over to Yuki, it got Sakuranbo's attention, driving her to pause in her tail curls. She had moved up in weight, but it was still no mastery, to be sure. It still hurt, which meant it was still a vulnerability, but she was itching to get to "proper" training, too. For a moment, though, she thumped her brother to get his attention, figuring he'd want to watch, too. She'd try to keep up the tail lifts, figuring she'd be able to keep up with the fight since it was probably going to be down to Namori's speed, not the speed the ice princess had used against the Saiyan prince.

"You are not interrupting, Namori," said ice princess replied assuringly before unfolding herself and moving to stand again. "I told you to let me know as soon as you were ready."

Yuki moved over to a more open area of the training room than the corner she had been meditating in and slipped into a ready stance, as always her style very different from that which Namori had practiced, resembling a tai chi stance more than a more confrontational and direct martial art. "Whenever you are ready. Show me how much you have grown."

Taroga's tail curls came to a swift halt when his sister thumped him. He had half a mind to thump her back, but fortunately the other half of his mind was just slightly more reasonable. He made sure to keep his tail from hitting the floor as he turned to watch Namori and Yuki. The match was clearly in the latter's favor, but he knew that wasn't what the match was about. He was interested in seeing just how the human will manage after his recent humiliating defeat.

"I know. I just wanted to be courteous.", Namori responded before following her into the open area. He watched her enter her stance and wondered exactly how he was going to approach this fight. Yuki's biggest strength had always been her speed. That was even more true now. She moved as rapidly as a the cold wind in a storm, but as gracefully as a blissful breeze. Before she died they were more evenly matched. Now there was a gap as wide as a chasm and it was time for him to make up that distance.

Namori inhaled and calmly entered his stance. "This takes me back to the Budokai, but I have a feeling it won't have the same outcome." He waited three seconds before closing the distance between them and releasing a quick and direct punch to the center of her abdomen. If she didn't jump away he prepared to follow up with a series of punches and even forcing his way through the discomfort he still felt in his arm. His plan was to minimize her use of speed by giving her little room to move.

The Budokai tournament ... it was hard to believe how long ago it had been, or how naive she had been. It was the first time she had even left the Frozen Lands. Never had she encountered a martial artist that used chi as she had learned, and only had she ever seen men much weaker than her challenging her. She had felt like a goddess, and thought nothing of entering to get the dragon ball that came with the trophy. She had been arrogant and blind to the very possibility of defeat. Her world had widened that day far beyond just the revelation of life from other planets, and she was never going to win the tournament because, it turned out, she was not as powerful as she had believed herself to be.

None of that was to be said to Namori, of course. It would be unsuitable for her station. "For one thing, this spar lacks your saving grace. Were it not for a chance ring-out, you would not have made it out of that fight the victor. You may be from the mountains, Namori, but the cold would have worn you down all the same. I shall not require its aid today, however."

When he attacked, she almost frowned. A straight punch? So simple? Was it some sort of feint? She could easily have leaped away, but no, she decided, this was training, not some break-all fight. If he had some scheme, let him have the opportunity to reveal it. After all, not everyone he would fight would be as fast as she.

And so instead of evasion, her favored tactic, she went as simple as he did, and answered his straight punch with a hip toss, a move that she would not know would actually disrupt everything he intended. His redirected momentum would likely hurl him a ways if it succeeded, but she would follow up with an attack of her own, a pursuing jump turning into a downward-spearing kick no doubt intended to pin him to the ground with a few more broken things.

Yuki was mostly correct in her statement. The rules of the tournament in regards to the ring out gave him his victory, but the same saving grace almost took him out of the fight as well. He believes that if neither of them had to worry about it he still would have come out on top. He'll never forget that day. It was the day that his eyes were opened to the truth of the universe and that there were levels of strength that he was yet to achieve.

Namori found himself surprised by the sudden hip toss, but he wasn't worried. His speed was already something of note, but his reflexes were where he really shined. He was raised in a real estate agent's nightmare. The one that consisted of unrelenting storms of lightning atop a mountain. It had been his training exercise to react to and dodge them. Compared to that finding a way out of this was nothing more than child's play.

As he was getting closer to the ground he reached his arms out to use as a base for his landing. Once he felt his hands connected to the floor he pressed down with his weight and pushed himself into a flip in order to fully recover his position and avoid the kick heading down to where he was meant to fall.

Once Namori landed on his feet he swiftly turned around to face Yuki again. "You didn't think it was going to be that easy, did you?"

There was a single undeniable advantage to ki blasts that revolutionized melee combat for all sufficiently advanced practitioners of the various arts of chii-do, but it wasn't strange that it did so. Rather, this advantage had fundamentally altered every form of combat to which it had ever been applied. When the sword replaced the knife. When the spear replaced the sword. When the trebuchet replaced the bow replaced the sling replaced the thrown stone. When the firearm rendered all other mundane weapons of war instantly obsolete.

And when chii-do allowed a martial artist to throw a "punch" at a distance. Yes, the revolutionary advantage was range, the tactically devastating ability to harm your adversary at greater, safer distances, and those who made the mistake of forgetting its impact were doomed to fall on the battlefield where they did so.

Namori had removed himself from the immediate range of the ice princess' limbs and thought himself safe enough to taunt her. He had forgotten that lesson. The words weren't even out of his mouth as she landed, spun and hurled a ki blast at the mountain dweller with an underhand pitch. It was no advanced technique like the Hitodama, but he had dropped his guard when, ironically, he seemed to think it was going to be that easy.

So that's the kind of fight it was going to be. Yuki's attack had caught Namori by surprise. He wasn't expecting her to spin and launch a ki blast at him. Especially not when he was in the middle of a sentence. He always felt like it was an unspoken rule in their world of fighting that you don't attack while your opponent is talking or charging their own attack. He'd make sure to note that this rule was amendable for later.

The distance between them worked for Namori. He didn't have the time to counter the blast with one of his own, but he did have enough time before it hit him to brace for the impact. Their powers were close enough to where a single blast wouldn't do any harm. If it had been point blank that might've been different. He crossed his arms in an X position over his chest and face prepared for the blast to hit its mark. He winced from the pain still lingering in his arm, but didn't let it stop him. He had to make a move of his own.

Before the smoke cleared on its own he charged through it and dropped his arms from their position and readied his right fist for another punch. After Yuki's attack he knew he was right in deciding that this fight would be better fought up close. He knew how to ensure that the same thing that happened earlier wouldn't happen again. From appearance it looked as if Namori was going for the same tactic as before. He was counting on them believing that instead of realizing what he actually had planned.

When he was within reaching distance of her he pulled his right arm back and launched it forward aiming for the same spot as before. Once his fist was halfway to its mark an invisible energy escaped from his knuckles to finish the attack. If his kiai hit he'd follow it up with another one from his left fist.

Even Namori wasn't stupid enough to try the same thing twice, and Yuki certainly wasn't stupid enough to believe he was. A smart utilization of a feint always gave time between attempts to lessen the opponent's guard against the attack. A stupid utilization was to deliberately use the exact same move that had just failed. A warrior defeats the entire purpose of a feint by so blatantly spelling it out.

And so this time, Yuki simply stepped out of his way and let him pass. This time, she didn't follow up, however, instead going back into her ready position and, if necessary, motioning for him to come at her again.

Namori's was fortunate that his attack hadn't allowed for unnecessary movement of follow through. When Yuki stepped aside he just simply stopped in his tracks and turned towards her. He noticed that she wasn't going back on the offensive and instead was preparing to enter her stance. His current strategy was getting him nowhere and he needed to switch things up.

Now that they were using ki he had an idea. Ki blasts worked best when they're up close. That was the reason he opted to use his kiai at close range. He knew that if she had finished getting into her stance with her tai chi she'd be able to easily deflect or redirect it. That was the charm in that style when you got ki involved. He had to hit her before she completed the stance.

Since he was already building up ki in preparation for his second attack he had the necessary ki charged up for his blast. He aimed his left hand at Yuki and fired.

Stances weren't magical things or techniques. Tai chi was simply a style of martial arts, not some sort of anti-ki protective ward. Yes, tai chi was a much more spirit-focused martial art and was focused much more on controlling and harnessing the body's ki and unifying body, spirit and mind, but its flowing, reflexive, water-like movements did not inherently confer mystical defensive bonuses, least of all from a simple stance. One's stance was merely, and literally, how one was standing, nothing more. As such, it would have been accomplished by the time she finished sidestepping his attack, literally as soon as she was standing still again. As a martial artist, her stance was a ready position, that is one that was optimized to move to attack or defense according to her art style, tai chi in her case.

All of this meant that a martial artist such as Namori wouldn't see a stance as some sort of opening, and was more likely trying to do as she had done, catching an opponent off-guard when they thought they were out of the range of attack. Fortunately, Yuki was not prone to forgetting her own combat lessons, but all the same, she opted to ignore the ki blast. After all, there was something she hadn't gotten the opportunity to show off.

Though she hadn't augmented her power level in any way like Sakuranbo alone had seen her do against Prince Vegeta, and at least didn't seem to be outwardly defending herself, the basic ki blast splashed across her form, dissipating without consequence. Perhaps Namori wasn't so far off after all with his attributing greater ki defense to tai chi? Or perhaps it had been some sort of defensive kiai as others had displayed? It would be interesting to see how the mountain boy mused the meaning of this, as he'd surely never guess it was a trait of the divine material of her raiment gifted to her by King Kai.

Perhaps Namori was wrong. It wouldn't have been the first time. He had never practiced the art of tai chi, but he had witnessed it. He genuinely believed that it was possible to redirect ki blasts just from using the motions and stances of the style. It wouldn't have been completely far fetched. People have been known to deflect them with the smack of their hand. If it was possible it seemed that he wouldn't find out today, because whatever Yuki had done it wasn't that.

He had never seen anything like it. She didn't do anything differently with her stance that would make this happen. Didn't even make a movement. The blast didn't explode or reflect. It just splashed and dissipated. He wasn't sure exactly what she did or how she did it, but he intended to find out. But he wasn't going to do so by wasting ki blasts when they seemingly have no effect against her.

Namori decided not to taunt her this time. He wasn't going to give her the chance of another opening. With that in mind he started focusing ki into his right hand, but didn't make a move to clench his fist yet. The distance between them was short and he was confident that the speed of his attack would either force her to take the attack or use the mysterious defense technique again if it was possible against his lightning. Neither was a complete loss for him. He stepped forward with his right foot and closed his fist before immediately punching forward sending a beam of lightning ki straight for her.

When scaled for power level, Namori's greatest and perhaps most underused advantage was that his lightning ki was faster than basically any other type in a comparable technique. His Lightning Kamehameha would move faster than anyone else's, his Lightning Destructo Disc would fly like a metaphorical bullet, and if he used it for a laser ray, the implications would make physicists faint. Yuki was close in, too, and there was little she could do about it, the attack sending her rolling, or perhaps she let it send her rolling instead of blocking and staying close. Either way, as she planted her feet again, she still seemed unscathed, though the attack had definitely seemed to hit her.

She held one finger up aside her face as ice-blue light began growing on its tip. "If you are going to stick so dedicatedly to ki attacks, Namori," the princess smirked, "I can only assume that you have grown tired of my presence in close. Allow me to oblige you. Icy Beam!" She thrust the finger forward, a cold, narrow ray erupting from the tip as it lanced across the distance for the mountain youth.
