"Oh, sorry," the bird said apologetically. He gazed at Adri's small computer in astonishment. "That looks like an iPhone, just bigger. Can you do the same things on an iPhone on here, like receive calls and messages and browse the internet?"

She scoffed at that. "Are you kidding? You wouldn't believe the hours I waste on that stuff if I let myself. Incomparable computing power, and it still ends up being used for Angry Birds."

"...I se," Alexander said after a moment's thought. "So, what do you use it for?"

Adri picked it up and began flicking through the apps. "Eh, the usual stuff. Scheduling, messaging, e-mail access, notes, pictures, vid messages, running hackkeys, backing up files."

"What about hopping from world to world?" Alexander questioned, gazing closely at the small computer.

"Eh?" she asked, momentarily confused. "It has nothing to do with that. I do all that on my own. Though it does use a quantum spacial projection to receive signals through an imaginary space that remains constant wherever I am so I always have signal." At that, Adri grinned and held the phone up as she pointed to the upper corner. "We're basically in a space station in the middle of a vacuum in a pocket plane held together by multidimensional crossroads, and look, five bars!"

"That's so cool! It's like having wifi wherever you go!" Alexander beamed. "My iPhone can't do that."

"I'm afraid I can't take credit for it, either," she confessed, her grin turning sheepish. "I was trying to figure out some convoluted system of putting micro-towers wherever I went." Adri's grin faded entirely and she got an exasperated look as she let her head fall a bit. "Yet another one of my gadgets left gathering dust in my closet ... C'est la vie. At least I learned some things in the process."

"That's true. Sometimes, things don't always go the way we want," Alexander smiled gently. "Sorry that happened, Adri."

She recovered so quickly that it was obvious Adri wasn't as bothered as Alexander had thought she was. "Ahahaha, it's nothing that serious! And like I said, at least I learned things from watching them implement it."

"True. I certainly learn from all my mess-ups," the birdman chirped.
